About the event

Our first BIMmoot won't disappoint:

May Winfield (senior construction solicitor and recognised legal specialist in BIM from BuroHappold Engineering) and Casey Rutland (vice-chair of the UK BIM Alliance) will be joining us, in person, so we can pick their brains! It will be an opportunity to ask questions and gain insights you might never have the opportunity to do.

May Winfield will be doing a short presentation on the common causes of disputes in BIM and the legal and contractual implications of the new international standards, ISO19650 series.  She will provide practical suggestions on mitigating these risks.

Calayde Davey (lead researcher of an NRF research team, via the University of Pretoria and Chalmers University, Sweden, developing application concepts for African Digital Twin cities) will also be sharing details of her project, Future Cities of Africa. "We can change the future state of our African built-environments by building the capacity in individuals to become relevant critical thinkers and doers. This talk is part of an ongoing body of work relating to developing practical critical thinking skills and leadership for spatial design professionals. On a city scale, we need new tools - tools that speed up the urban planning, design, engagement and management production. We need to reduce this work from cycles of months and years to cycles of days."

We will also be sharing updates of what we've been up to as a Community and where, and how, you can get involved.

This event is free to attend and refreshments will be served. BUT you need to register as there are limited seats available. It will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Registration is from 17h00 and we will begin promptly at 17h30.
